Mile High Chiropractic Center Food Drive for Crossroads Cares Food Pantry

We are excited to be sponsoring a canned food drive. For every 5 patient visits between Oct 12 and Nov 13, we will be donating a pound of food to the Crossroads Cares Food Pantry. A couple of ways to get involved:

- Existing Patients: If you are interested in donating food, bring your non perishable items to the office. We will deliver all items to the Crossroads Cares Food Pantry on November 16th.

- Potential New Patients: If you bring in a bag of non-perishable items, your complete first exam is free.

Mesothelioma Patients May Benefit from Chiropractic Care

Mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive cancer caused mainly by exposure to asbestos. The symptoms of this type of cancer have an abnormally long latency period and can take anywhere from 20 to 50 years to become noticeable. Usually, by the time mesothelioma is diagnosed it is already in advanced stages and treatment options are limited.

Many cancer patients have chosen to visit a chiropractor as part of their treatment routine. According to the American Chiropractic Association, chiropractic doctors “have a deep respect for the human body's ability to heal itself without the use of surgery or medication. These doctors devote careful attention to the biomechanics, structure and function of the spine, its effects on the musculoskeletal and neurological systems, and the role played by the proper function of these systems in the preservation and restoration of health. A doctor of chiropractic is one who is involved in the treatment and prevention of disease, as well as the promotion of public health, and a wellness approach to patient healthcare.”

In order to help control pain and relieve headaches, tension and stress, many cancer patients have integrated chiropractic care into their course of treatment. Patients interested in alternative treatment, who strongly believe in the body’s capability to heal itself, may find chiropractic care appealing. Alleviating severe headaches and movement pains during cancer treatment may make the treatment process more comfortable for cancer patients, including those battling mesothelioma.

A study was published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics that examined a 54-year-old man diagnosed with lung cancer (a cancer often related to asbestos exposure). The man began seeing a chiropractor after experiencing very little pain relief one year after he underwent surgery to combat his cancer. The man experienced pain relief immediately after beginning chiropractic care and stopped using all of his pain medications after two visits to his chiropractor. The Journal noted, “These clinical examples offer two specific instances of how chiropractic may improve the quality of a cancer patient’s life.”

Dr. Ed Kahn, D.C., Wife Jill and Pup Hannah - Fall 2009

If you want to feel great sooner than later ...make an appointment with Dr. Ed Kahn today!

Dr. Kahn is very committed to the improved health of his patients. In the short time I’ve been in treatment with him I’ve experienced better overall wellness. I had serious pain in my lower back, tightness in my neck, and numbness in one of my toes. I rarely slept through a night, I’d pretty much abandoned any exercise, and generally felt tired through most of the day. I now sleep through the night, have the energy to stay “with it” during the day, and my husband and I are enjoying long and vigorous walks due to our increased flexibility and movement. If you want to feel great sooner than later and wish to be under the care of a compassionate and knowledgeable chiropractor, make an appointment with Dr. Ed Kahn today!

I can truly say “I feel great”....

I can truly say “I feel great”. The biggest difference is in my posture. I don’t walk with my shoulders rolled forward and with constant pain. When I first came in to visit Dr. Kahn I was suffering from chronic neck, upper back, and mid back pain and I also had been getting very strange shooting pain in my elbows that would travel down my forearms to my finger tips that were causing not only discomfort, but fro me not to be as productive at work. I was taking a lot of breaks from typing and the pain was not going away. After a few adjustments, the pain just disappeared and I have not felt the elbow pain ever since. Before seeing Dr. Kahn I never thought about doing anything about the discomfort. I thought it was normal to have mild discomfort on a regular basis, after all I was still able to perform my daily tasks. Once I started getting adjustments regularly, I realized that it is not normal to live with pain and that I could live pain free. Today I notice a huge difference in my posture. I’m also more aware of my body and notice what is not. Dr. Kahn recommended a series of exercise for me to perform at home to help support the adjustments I was getting weekly. Dr. Kahn performed corrective care and also guided me through rehabilitation, strengthening and maintenance of my back. This is not a common practice, we normally go to the doctor and we get a band aid to cover up the pain, but rarely get encouraged of our health and be proactive rather that reactive.

Thank you Dr. Kahn,

Erendira
